This is a great opportunity to be involved in the core business development strategy of Ideal Manufacturing for a new or recent chemistry graduate within 5 years of graduation.  The role is to lead a chemistry project; which uses the latest techniques in chemistry and data analysis to develop new cleaning technologies which require less of an environmental footprint as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between Northumbria University and industry partner Ideal Manufacturing. You will work collaboratively in a team comprising academics based at Northumbria, and the R&D team at Ideal Manufacturing.

You should have an interest in analytical chemistry and material science as this project will operate at the interface between these disciplines. The role will involve developing state-of-the-art competence in current spectroscopic analysis technology both practically and through study of the scientific literature. With the help of the KTP supervisors, you will be expected to apply your skills to the creation of a new soil analysis system, and use this methodology to develop new cleaning products (in collaboration with the customer base of Ideal Manufacturing Ltd). Ultimately the project seeks to prototype and deliver new systems for the commercial cleaning sector.

The opportunities available to you:

  • Potential to be retained in a permanent position within the company at the end of the project
  • £2,000 pa professional training and personal development budget
  • Residential leadership & management programme at Ashornehill College
  • Potential for performance-related bonus
