Salary: £23,334 to £27,830 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

Applications are invited for the above post to co-ordinate department education and student experience activities within the department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing (M3) Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and pro-active individual who thrives on providing professional administration support in a busy working environment.
The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter, who is able to manage their own workload and assist with the day-to-day running of a busy department. The role-holder will be comfortable working with both internal and external colleagues at all levels and will seek to continually improve department processes and communications.
This role is the primary department contact for academic staff ensuring enquiries are managed and progressed efficiently and that the department is making best use of support provided by Student Services and Faculty support teams. This is a varied and rewarding role which includes department committee meeting support and comprehensive diary management and PA support to the Head of Department ensuring key actions agreed at department meetings are followed up and progressed.
The role holder also supports student feedback mechanisms and department student experience activities through convening the Learning Community Forums and coordinating local events. The role is a member of the wider Faculty Education and Student Experience team, ensuring faculty wide issues are identified and actioned, and excellence in student experience practice is shared.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Responsibility for running the Head of Department’s Office ensuring administrative needs are met to a consistently high standard, including diary and email management.
- Executive support for department education and student experience activity. The role holder will be the primary contact for academic staff within the Department, holding detailed knowledge specific to the Department whilst also having an extensive understanding of the faculty and University education and student experience activity.
- The role holder is instrumental to successful departmental operations, ensuring issues are dealt with pro-actively, effectively and swiftly, with the role holder monitoring progress on issues and following up as necessary using their specialist knowledge.
- Contribute to the successful implementation of key education and student experience processes across the faculty ensuring the department needs are identified and addressed in line with faculty policy.
Candidates should hold 5 GCSEs at level C or above or vocational qualifications (NVQ 2-3, C&G, BTEC in Business or Administration) or equivalent, and have some relevant experience in a similar or related role, or a proven track record of relevant work experience.
A pro-active, flexible approach with excellent customer service skills are essential, you will also need excellent IT skills.
