SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT, Human Resources, to perform complex and diverse duties in support of the Department of Facilities and Campus Planning, Human Resources, and Labor Relations Office. Will be responsible for coordinating appointments and meetings; interpreting and responding to questions from employees and the community; researching and resolving complex problems regarding non-union/union employee issues; handling ongoing payroll processes, addressing and resolving any problems; creating, submitting, and following through on all HR transactions; creating and submitting all job postings and advertising requests; ensuring a smooth and successful on-boarding process for new employees; tracking and reporting on all internal union posting activity, managing the bidding process, and creating critical spreadsheets and tracking mechanisms for both bidding procedures and disciplinary actions; creating grievance tracking reports; planning, coordinating, and executing department-wide events; overseeing all aspects for the Rewards and Recognition Program; coordinating logistics for training programs; composing and editing correspondence and announcements on behalf of HR and Labor Relations managers; and performing other duties as necessary.
REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least five years’ administrative or related office experience; meticulous attention to detail; initiative; excellent organizational, interpersonal, customer service, and oral and written communication skills; ability to prioritize and manage a variety of tasks simultaneously; proficiency with computers and MS Office; exceptional discretion and judgment with confidential information/issues; and ability to work independently and in a team setting and with people at all levels of the organization and the larger MIT community. Bachelor’s degree and HR work experience preferred. Experience working with HR and payroll systems (e.g., SAP, Brio, Kronos) and FileMaker Pro a plus. Job #16673-6
