The IT Support Specialist Senior leads and oversees the scripting process for provisioning O365 and Active Directory (AD) accounts for all of the graduate programs with in the School of Design, including over 700 students, 150 faculty, and 50 staff, including ensuring the effective functioning of accounts and access to appropriate systems for all of these users, and regularly monitoring system performance. He or she leads the process for researching and identifying new technologies to meet the diverse short and long – term technology needs of all PennDesign graduate programs, working in partnership with the Systems Administrator Senior, faculty, and staff. This process includes working with vendors, negotiating pricing, and ensuring that the identified equipment and technology falls within budgetary guidelines. The IT Support Specialist Senior leads the process of developing technical solutions to support the school’s newly-established Research Support Center. He/she also participates in conceptualizing, planning and implementing department-specific and school – wide computing initiatives, monitoring systems for security compliance, and participating in or leading campus-wide project teams, task forces and user-group meetings. S/he works closely with faculty and staff to consult on IT and other technical needs associated with teaching, research and serves as second tier contact for users on technical issues and services, including software, e-mail, desktop (primarily Mac but including Windows), mobile devices and other Instructional technology.
A Bachelors Degree and a minimum of two years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. Bachelor’s degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience strongly preferred. This position requires advanced technical skills. Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policies. Experience with user support is required, including proven troubleshooting experience with Mac OS and Windows. Familiarity with Cloud Services. Familiar with imaging software including Jamf. Must have excellent customer service skills, ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Working knowledge of networking concepts and systems security.
