SENIOR LEARNING SYSTEMS DESIGNER, Office of Digital Learning (ODL), to work with the dean for digital learning and all ODL groups (OpenCourseWare, MITx, Residential Education) to develop the strategic vision for and lead the design and development of digital platforms, tools, and workflows in support of MIT’s efforts in digital education, globally and on campus. Projects may include full platforms and websites, digital education tools, and internal systems. Responsibilities include leading learning systems design projects across the product lifecycle and multiple product launches; defining the vision for the learning experience, working iteratively and collaboratively with stakeholders across varied MIT user groups and engaging with external users; gathering and managing business requirements and effectively explaining how design solutions align with strategy; creating design documents to inform and advance the learning design process; building interactive prototypes to communicate and test concepts and ideas; working closely with Open Learning Engineering or third party vendors to ensure high-quality design implementations; recommending and defining new projects to improve the usability and learner experience of existing systems; and seeking the team's input on feasibility and cost-effectiveness of proposed enhancements and incorporating into prioritization recommendations.
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in a related field; at least five years’ experience designing complex, web-based applications; professional experience in educational settings; strong leadership, facilitation, and organizational skills; expert-level project management skills; proven ability to bring projects involving multiple stakeholders to completion; knowledge of and ability to apply accessibility guidelines; and exceptional interaction and visual design skills for product applications.
