Job description

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering was formally established at Queen's in 1912.  The School has over 100 years of engineering excellence and has recently completed a GBP 17m investment in the refit of our laboratory and teaching facilities.  These include a rapid prototyping room, state of the art composites laboratory, and a fully configurable flight simulator.

The Schools' vision is to be world-leading in research and teaching, addressing global challenges and the needs of society through knowledge creation and dissemination. We are proud of the strong links we continue to develop with industry leaders, both nationally and internationally.

All of our Undergraduate and Postgraduate taught programmes are fully accredited by either the Institute of Mechanical Engineers or the Royal Aeronautical Society.

Queen's strives to nurture an academic environment which greatly values its scholars and researchers. Our multi-national School proudly holds an Athena Swan Silver award acknowledging our inclusive ethos.

This post is available for 3 years in the first instance to provide high quality teaching, assessment and coordination in fundamental Mathematics and Engineering Science subjects with particular emphasis on active and interactive learning and the use of a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

The successful candidate must have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in a relevant area and have relevant teaching experience at university level as well as the ability to carry out scholarship in engineering education and have experience in the use of a VLE platform.
