Develop, implement and evaluate oral health outreach & educational materials with children and adults. Accurate use of axiUm, virtual encounters, daily/weekly/monthly reporting for program assessment & depart. needs. Model professional behavior/conduct. Act professionally & calmly at all times; Treat all people respectfully; Take personal responsibility for correcting problems; Follow up to ensure satisfaction with service received. Develop, implement & evaluate dental care programs at PDM education and/or clinical affiliated sites. Provides preventive, therapeutic services. Performs hygiene duties examining teeth & other oral structures, cleaning teeth, applying sealants, topical fluoride & radiological procedures without supervision of a Dentist. Maintain accurate records of dental treatment. Mentor/guide dental students modeling professional behavior. Ability to carry 50 – 70 lbs of supply & equipment for events.

Supervise dental student performance in hygiene activities at community sites. Evaluate student performance daily & ensure completion of virtual encounters in AxiUm. Comply with all PDM instructional policies, compliance, laws & regulations for health, safety & quality. Participate in monitoring of students’ completion of course requirements. Treat all fairly & respectfully; Work effectively & respect different values & viewpoints. Consistently work collegially & professionally with team members

Develop & implement seminars & educational modules in public health field. Accurately utilize Canvas to review course materials, grade & assess student performance. Demonstrate full competency & compliance with continuing education standards in dental public health as required by licensure. Demonstrate strong instructional skills & facilitation of groups/discussions. Remain calm in stressful situations; Consistently demonstrate pleasant & respectful disposition that puts people at ease.

Associate’s Degree in dental hygiene and at least 3 to 5 years of experience in dental hygiene or equivalent combination of education and experience. PA licenses in dental hygiene and dental hygiene public health practitioner are required.

Certified PHDHPs are restricted to the scope of practice and supervision requirements for dental hygienists. Qualifications to obtain the PHDHP certification include: 3,600 hours of dental hygiene practice under the supervision of a licensed dentist, and professional liability insurance in the minimum amount of $1 million per occurrence and $3 million per annual aggregate.

Valid and updated background screening required for role (PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Check and FBI Fingerprinting Check). Valid unrestricted PA Driver’s license or reciprocal agreement required for role.

Experience carrying out duties when faced with interruptions, distractions and a fluctuating workload. Ability to use tact, diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Technical skills to learn and use enterprise systems and departmental tools. Experience using standard office equipment such as copier, fax and calculator. Clear and understandable speech to disseminate information and forward messages in a thorough and appropriate manner. Excellent interpersonal skills with diverse groups and individuals at all organizational levels, both inside and outside of the University. Excellent problem solving skills. Strong commitment to teamwork. Service-oriented, with ability to maintain a pleasant and helpful attitude. Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
