Director, Strategy and Program Development
Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer for Yale Medicine, the Director, Strategy and Program Development will play a key leadership role in strategic planning initiatives, network development activities, and the development of new programs and services (clinical and administrative). Will serve as lead on critical projects and initiatives as assigned by evaluating scope, conducting research and analysis, developing strategies, tracking, proposal development and providing regular updates to leadership. Will function as a point of contact for departments on strategic planning, marketing/outreach requests, and other network development led projects and initiatives – i.e. referral management, telehealth, international program, etc. Will work in collaboration with resources in YSM/YNHHS, as well as, external partners to ensure that all departments are coordinated and comply with the timeline. Oversees the activities of physician liaison team by designing outreach campaigns that are coordinated with marketing efforts. Manages cross functional team. Represents the Chief Strategy Officer in a variety of ongoing projects and transitions while directing and monitoring the processes necessary for the successful project.
Outreach 1. Set priorities and goals for the physician outreach team and monitor and report program success. 2. Ensure current CRM/PRM tool is fully functional in order to track outreach efforts, follow-up resolution, and to produce activity reports 3. Partner to better align YM and YNHHS outreach efforts. Program Development 1. Assume lead role in developing programs that streamline decision making, reduce cost, and improve YM’s ability to provide quality patient care and customer service. a. Design and develop programs for physician partners and corporations b. Improve communication with referring providers by developing policies and standards to ensure proper clinical care coordination c. Identify technical solution to improve care delivery Network/Business Development efforts 1. Cultivate relationships with outside organizations (physicians, hospitals, corporations, payers, etc) to identify business opportunities and implement 2. Support Chief Strategy Officer in the development of the YM-YNHH International Patient Program 3. Assist in expansion of telemedicine and collaborate on strategic development opportunities 4. Convene key internal and external stakeholders to develop new programs, processes and services. Marketing 1. Lead YM marketing efforts by developing strategies, standards, priorities, and guidelines 2. Align with YNHHS Marketing team to establish a process for coordinating of marketing and outreach campaigns Other 1. Manages client expectations and provides issue/risk identification and escalation pathways. 2. Develops and directs cross functional team 3. Designs, develops, and executes communication systems to ensure effective exchange of information between Network Strategy and the departments, senior management, and staff. 4. Troubleshoots and resolves complex issues that involve representatives from multiple organizations. 5. Prepare analyses, presentations, and other materials to communicate progress on various initiatives. 6. Complies with standard policies and procedures. 7. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Master’s Degree. 10-15 years of experience in a complex healthcare environment.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Strong and highly effective communication skills, demonstrating political savvy in the investigation, monitoring and reporting of information. Displays independence and credibility to stakeholders.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Ability to manage multiple priorities and ability to understand detailed analysis as well as have a global thinking capability. Proven ability to manage diverse groups, and to stay focused on projects at hand.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Proficient in the use of MS Office: Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Demonstrated proficiency with research tools, SPSS, and skilled in internet research tools.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Demonstrated effective organizational skills within a complex healthcare environment, preferably in an academic clinical environment. Ability to be forward thinking in project design, managing timelines and conducting relevant investigations.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Ability to create detailed project plans including timelines, budgets and resource allocation to ensure successful project completion. Established presentation skills to all levels of administration with professional presence and credibility.
