Under direct supervision from a Registered Nurse or other designated supervision, provides direct patient care or miscellaneous technical support by performing delegated procedures of a specialized and technical nature, which may include obtaining hemodynamic measurements, setting-up and maintaining specialized clinical equipment and performing delegated clinical or laboratory procedures, changing dressings, assisting with admitting and discharge procedures. Assist with more complex procedures and perform complex diagnostic testing. Develop and recommend changes in patient care activities to improve the quality of patient care services. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are non-exempt. 7W is a 32 bed unit that provides care to the Adult Bone Marrow Transplant patient. The RN and technical staff provide high-tech patient care in a family-centered atmosphere that values and supports the patient and family throughout hospitalization.
High school diploma, GED or equivalent; Certified Nurse Aide (or) Certified Medical Assistant (or) currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed at least one med surg clinical (or) a minimum 1-year recent experience in an unlicensed assistant role in a patient care setting, such as nurse aide, in a hospital setting, nursing home, or other health care environment; ability to read and write; demonstrates good attendance records; demonstrates interpersonal and problem solving skills; demonstrates initiative and a commitment to provide quality patient care; demonstrates ability to work collaboratively and function as a member of a health care team; ability to problem solve; positive conflict resolution skills; ability to be flexible and adapt to stressful situations.
Basic computer skills; course work in an Allied Health field.
Minimum 2 days per 4 week schedule
**Dual Unit Information**Home Unit will be 7W.The Nursing Assistant (TEMP) may need to float to 8E (Oncology/Hematology) based on either of the units staffing needs.
