Heilbronn Fellowships in Mathematics (2-3 posts)
Applications are invited for the above posts, in association with the Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical Research. Experience in Algebra or Numerical Linear Algebra, interpreted broadly, is preferred.
The Fellowships last for three years, starting in October 2019 or at a mutually agreed alternative date.
The posts are usually full-time, but a part-time appointment may be considered.
Holders will divide their time equally between their own academic research (in the School of Mathematics at the University) and the research programme of the Heilbronn Institute (at the Institute’s new office in Manchester). The Institute’s work offers opportunities to engage in collaborative work as well as individual projects.
Starting salary is in the range £37,345 to £42,036 per annum, plus a salary supplement of £3,500 per annum in recognition of the distinctive nature of these Fellowships. Payment of this supplement is conditional on a finished PhD thesis having been accepted in final form, because we expect Heilbronn Fellows to hold PhDs before working at the Heilbronn Institute. In addition, each Fellow will have a fund of at least £2,500 per annum to pay for research expenses. Fellows are eligible for membership of the USS pension scheme.
Applications should include a statement of proposed research (no more than one side of A4) and a CV. Candidates should ask three referees to send references to email@example.com prior to the closing date; it is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure that the reference letters are received by the closing date
Due to the nature of the Heilbronn Institute's work, Fellows must satisfy vetting before appointment. UK resident UK nationals will normally be able to meet this condition: other potential applicants should consult the Heilbronn Manager (firstname.lastname@example.org) about their eligibility before applying.
Informal enquiries may be sent to email@example.com.
