Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Architecture, to commence on January 1, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year contract.
This is a joint appointment between the Department of Civil Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and the Department of Architecture in the Faculty of Architecture, with the former being the home department.

The Department of Civil Engineering is one of the five engineering departments in the Faculty of Engineering. The Department has a world class reputation for leading research and teaching in civil engineering, and has nurtured high-calibre leaders for the community as well as the civil engineering profession. The Department was ranked 11th in the world under the QS University Subject Rankings 2018 in the subject area of civil and structural engineering. The Department is active in research in construction management and transportation engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, and water and environmental engineering. The Department of Architecture has an international reputation and is ranked amongst the world's best architectural schools. Design thinking is at the core of its values and the Department prides itself on questioning the status quo in an active and dynamic research environment. The bright team of scholars and professionals who constitute the teaching staff of the Department and its Division of Landscape represent a diversity of research interests. The scale and breadth of case studies in the region offers a potential portfolio of exciting research projects and a laboratory structure offers opportunities to pull efforts, cross disciplinary boundaries and develop forums for exchange. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with relevant experience in teaching and research. A strong background in structural engineering is required and experiencein the area of Smart City, Smart Environment and/or Green Construction Materials would be desirable. He/She will be expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses and supervise research students and projects.
A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as leave and medical benefits. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
