It has been named 'University of the Year for Student Experience' and ranks in the top 50 in the 2019 edition of the prestigious league table (Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019) with the guide's editors describing the university as "innovative" and "bold" in its vision for students. Committed to research and teaching excellence and passionate about the arts, humanities, design, performance and media, The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is a vibrant community of scholars, researchers and practitioners with a global profile and a heritage of quality built up over 150 years.

The School of Art & Design has a long-sustained reputation for innovation, enjoys a rapidly rising profile and has alumni who inform, mediate and create the world around us. The School is a dynamic, innovative and international environment where we embrace an ever-changing external world through teaching, research and creative practice. The School's 2014 Ref Submission was ranked in the top ten in the UK for Impact.

We are looking to appoint a Senior Lecturer to support the renowned Automotive and Transport Design courses within the School of Art and Design in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. The Automotive and Transport Design courses have an enviable reputation for leading design education in this field; they are particularly famous for their links with industry and a forty-year record of producing successful graduates who have progressed to leading positions in design studios all over the world.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the capability to teach to industry standards in drawing, ideation and design activities appropriate to the subject, as well as knowledge of Alias and other relevant CAD platforms. Experience of model-making and workshop practices including clay modelling for the design of exteriors and interiors of vehicles will be an advantage. This position will also involve teaching courses at our prestigious international partner Institutions - such as The Nanjing University of Science and Technology.

The candidate must have an awareness of the current discourses and technological advances that are underpinning the future direction of design in the automotive and transport industries. They will need to have high-level expertise in a specific field within Automotive and/or Transport design and should have knowledge and experience of research/consultancy within Higher Education. Staff from Automotive and Transport design are anticipated to become affiliated with Mobility & Transport Research Centre and the National Transport Design Centre.

The achievement and satisfaction of our students is our top priority. Candidates must be qualified (or be willing to become qualified) to teach and assess at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate high level digital fluency and a continuing engagement with professional, scholarly and pedagogic development - those without a teaching qualification will be required to undertake Coventry University's PGCHE or secure a HEA fellowship.

Coventry University is committed to providing our employees with the very best opportunities for both career and personal development. We offer a wide choice of development and training courses to all staff as well as generous holiday allowances, final salary pensions and flexible working options.
