The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine is a global leader in veterinary education, research, and clinical care. Founded in 1884, the School is a proud member of the One Health initiative, linking human, animal, and environmental health.


The Veterinary Anesthesia Technician will perform anesthesia services for clinical patients and research animals. This involves using various technical medical procedures on hospital patients as needed or instructed. These services may be provided for various sections of VHUP in various locations as assigned. He/she will provide ‘On Call’ service under the supervision of senior Anesthesia Technicians, evenings, weekends and holidays, 365 days / year, as assigned. 
It is the employee’s responsibility to continually self educate by reading textbooks and journals, attending rounds, lectures and continuing education classes. This position also involves record keeping, computer data entry, equipment maintenance and stocking of work area


Level: An Associate’s Degree or two year college equivalent and 0 to 1 year of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician or eligible to sit for and pass the VTNE within the next 3 months.

B Level: An Associate’s Degree or two year college equivalent and 1 to 3 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician required.
