The National Graphene Institute is a new facility developed to establish the UK as a graphene research and technology ‘hub’ that will lead to the rapid commercialisation of graphene and 2D technologies in the UK. One of the main features of the NGI is its semiconductor cleanroom laboratories (1500 sqm, Class 100/1000) which are probably the largest and best equipped University-based cleanrooms in Europe.

Cleanrooms are maintained free of particles by constantly recirculating filtered air and most importantly, by ensuring no particles are introduced. For this reason, cleanroom users must wear full-body gowns which must be sent out for laundry on a frequent basis. Likewise, all items taken into the cleanroom must be painstakingly cleaned prior to entry and all technical areas must be kept clean and particle-free.

A vacancy has arisen for a Cleanroom Technician, your primary role will be carrying out the basic tasks which are of paramount importance in a cleanroom. Hence, you will be playing an important part in running our state-of-the-art cleanrooms to the highest standards. It is envisaged that the majority of your time will be spent on the tasks listed above although the role will include other secondary tasks as described in detail in the further particulars attached.

The cleanroom facilities will evolve in order to meet current and future user needs. You will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet the developing needs of these facilities.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
