York St John is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic York and there has never been a more exciting time to join us.

Significant investment in our campus and facilities, the development of forward-thinking new partnerships and an enhanced range of contemporary courses have helped make us the fastest growing University in the U.K. over the past two years.

As part of our expansion, we are recruiting for a Lecturer in Film Studies (0.5 FTE) in the School of Humanities, Religion and Philosophy. The School combines excellent teaching and learning, an inclusive ethos, and a flourishing research culture. The successful candidate will join a team with an exceptional track record in providing an excellent student experience, as attested in the score of 100% overall satisfaction in the 2018 National Student Survey.

We are looking for an enthusiastic lecturer capable of teaching across the remit of Film and Media Studies. In particular, applicants should demonstrate an ability to contribute to the teaching modules such as 'Popular Genres', 'Media, Culture and Society', 'Media Research', 'Gender and Sexualities', 'Cinema and Society', and 'Writing the Media'. They should be able to supervise undergraduate dissertations.

We are putting inspirational learning and impactful research at the heart of this strategy, recognising our academic expertise as our greatest asset and investing in enabling this expertise to thrive.

As a Stonewall Top 100 employer and holder of the Social Enterprise Gold Mark for Responsible Business Practice, our strength lies in the supportive, inclusive network that exists within our team: renowned for our friendly, progressive environment, we will nurture your potential so that you can accomplish your ambitions.

If you would like to shape the story of a 175 year old institution with a fantastic future, we would love to hear from you.

Any informal enquiries should be addressed to Dr Keith McDonald - K.McDonald@yorksj.ac.uk
