Where you’ll work:
Located within our double accredited Business School (AACSB and AMBA), the Department of Marketing, Retail and Tourism is a newly formed, research-led academic department and home to the internationally renowned Institute of Place Management. Offering a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and commercial programmes, including sector-leading degree apprenticeships, the Department places strong emphasis on employability and critical thinking.
About the role:
Providing inspiring academic leadership to your team, you will embed a strong research culture, generate significant funding through the submission of relevant bids, and ensure a steady pipeline of publications that achieve international recognition. At the same time, you will actively develop new income streams by identifying opportunities for research, consultancy, knowledge exchange projects, short courses and taught programmes. You will inform curriculum innovation and knowledge exchange within the Business and Law community. You will join a vibrant research community, receiving a highly competitive research allowance and working alongside esteemed colleagues such as Professor Peter Naudé, Professor Dominic Medway, Professor Gary Warnaby, Professor Cathy Parker, Professor Paul Smith and Professor Ares Kalandides.
To be equal to the challenge, you will require an impressive research background in at least one of the following areas: Business to Business Marketing, Consumption (ideally with a focus on retail or tourism), Branding, Digital Marketing. Equally importantly, you should be qualified to PhD level in a marketing-related discipline, experienced in leading research teams and skilled in shaping programmes of research. Finally, you will bring a highly commercial mindset, enabling you to maximise our income and raise our profile on the global stage. Join us as a Reader and you should be ready for promotion to Professor within four to five years, whilst immediate appointment as Professor will require membership of appropriate professional bodies and a proven profile of delivering research findings via conferences, papers and international networks.
