Position Focus:

This position reports to the Associate Director of Operations and works under the direction of the Director of Research Education. This position manages the administrative component of the PA Research Program, which includes all phases of the research curriculum. Management of this program includes: ensuring the on-time delivery of the research curriculum, administration and coordination of the PA student thesis, public relations pertaining to PA student research efforts, supervision of teaching assistants and tutors, creation and management of information systems, and development and implementation of long-term sustainability plans. This position collaborates closely with the Director of PA Research education to support the PA Program mission and goals and accreditation standards. The position collects, analyzes, and reports student performance and program data. This individual also collaborates with PA Program faculty in their research endeavors.

Essential Duties

1. In support of the Program mission and accreditation, plans, directs, and oversees programmatic activities for the PA Research Program. 2. Develops, implements, and maintains operational policies and procedures. 3. Develops metrics to identify and measure the success of the program; collects, analyzes, and reports student progress and program data. 4. Supports and maintains accreditation standards. 5. Manages program communications; identifies outreach potential and promotes philanthropic and collaborative support of the program. 6. Works closely with leadership, internal and external colleagues to further develop and implement strategic plans. 7. Tracks all program activities and regularly informs leadership of progress on each initiative. Recommends structural or programmatic adjustments, changes or additions based on full knowledge of mission, goals and objectives, and accreditation standards. 8. Assists in identifying and evaluating potential future funding sources, and contributes to the submission of grants and contracts supporting the PA Program, including the annual submission and writing of all content areas and budgetary sections of grant applications and annual reports. 9. Manages the administrative infrastructure of the Research Program including hiring, supervision, and performance development of teaching assistants and tutors; oversees and manages information systems, facilities, and space needs. 10. Assists PA Program faculty with scholarly endeavors. 11. Provides a high level of administrative support related to the coordination of special projects and events. 12. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to build consensus about goals, tasks, and deliverables within and across teams. Ability to identify obstacles and address problems cooperatively, professionally, and with respect for others.

Ability to develop and learn advanced skills in areas of responsibility. Demonstrated ability to oversee complex processes and schedules with a high level of organization and administrative skills including outstanding tracking and follow up.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Demonstrate excellent communication skills. Ability to convey information necessary to carry out tasks, write and present clearly and professionally, and edit and proof read with an exacting attention to detail, grammar and formatting.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Demonstrated ability to synthesize data into a format for presentation and write summary analysis reports. Ability to operate and deliver in a high paced, high demand environment. Ability to remain professional and maintain strict confidence, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Demonstrated computer and analytical skills, including the established advanced ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite Windows software, particularly in Outlook, Excel, Work and PowerPoint; scheduling and survey software; data collection/analysis, and manage databases. Develop and learn advanced skills in areas of responsibility.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Master’s Degree in a related area. Strong sense of professionalism with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Preferred but not required, experience with qualitative and quantitative research, textual analytic software as well as the use of Apple operating systems.
