Salary: Pro-rata salary of £16,635 based on the full-time equivalent salary of £33,199 per annum (includes payment of £2,111 per annum in lieu of annual leave).
St Mary’s University is seeking to appoint a fully qualified counsellor to provide brief, focussed counselling and wellbeing support to a diverse range of students. The Counsellor/Wellbeing Practitioners will provide a holistic approach to the health and wellbeing of our students, providing counselling, practical support, pastoral care, advice and guidance. You must have a flexible approach to your work, providing a variety of support to students to match their needs in order to enhance their student experience.
You will have a counselling/psychotherapy qualification preferably Integrative, and be registered with BACP. You will be an accredited member of the BACP/UKCP or close to achieving this. You should have an excellent understanding of: severe emotional, psychological mental health disorders including; depression, anxiety, self-harm and eating disorders.
You will have experience of providing short term counselling to young people, understanding the needs and developmental issues of young adults. The capacity to manage an individual case-load with a wide range of issues is essential. Experience in an educational setting, and also of working in mental health is desirable.
You will also have excellent communication, IT and organisational skills and demonstrate flexibility and creativity. It is important to be proactive and confident at taking the initiative, working both as part of a team and independently.
