About the role

The Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) is seeking to appoint a research fellow with policy analysis skills and experience. This Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow will work across CHERE’s research programs in health care financing and funding; and aged care. The successful applicant will be able to work in teams and independently to collate and summarise relevant documents, analyse health policy, and interpret policy implications of research findings.

The Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow will report to the Deputy Director and leader of the policy evaluation program. In this role, you will support the Deputy Director and other senior staff in documenting policy developments within Australia, reviewing developments in other relevant countries, and critically appraising new policy proposals. You will identify and summarise available information and data that is relevant to any issue or topic.

Our areas of expertise include economic evaluation and health technology assessment, applied econometrics, discrete choice experiments, health outcome measurement and policy evaluation.

About you

To be successful in applying for this role at Level B, you will have:

  • Ability to identify, summarise and appraise appropriate policy developments from countries other than Australia
  • Experience and skills in accurately synthesising and critically appraising literature in health economics, applied economics and/or policy
  • Ability to contribute peer reviewed publications, reports, and research applications
  • Ability to produce high quality reports using word processing packages and PowerPoint
  • A post-graduate degree qualification in economics, health economics, health services research, public health, social sciences or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of the Australian health and aged care systems and the current policy context (desirable)
  • Experience in the analysis of policy proposals, particularly the financial and economic aspects (desirable)

To be successful in applying for this role at Level C, you will also have:

  • A PhD in health economics or other social sciences field
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, conduct and report research independently
  • Track record in peer reviewed publications

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $101,932 to $138,453 pa (Level B/C)

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 2 years.
