Director - Birmingham City Business School

Birmingham City University is a thriving, modern university with a rich history in the city and wider region. With 25,000 students, we are focused on teaching excellence and place particular emphasis on practice-based programmes that support student employability. Across the institution we have revised the curriculum offer with all courses being professionally relevant and delivered in state-of-the-art facilities where we have invested over £250m in recent years.

The Birmingham City Business School has 4,000 students studying on campus, with many more studying with overseas partners. We have a long tradition of providing practice oriented higher education with a particularly strong focus on supporting regional SMEs and enhancing the economic and social wellbeing of our region.  Our staff and students are the real key to our success and are committed to delivering excellent teaching and learning, which is research informed.

We are seeking a Director to lead this exciting school which symbolises our driving ambition to support the city and the region. It is important that candidates bring a strong track record as a leader in a relevant academic discipline and combine this with a desire to engage externally across the private and public sectors to help drive the ambition of the University.   As we continue to drive improvement in key performance areas, the Director will build upon our enhancements towards both the TEF and REF to the benefit of our students’ learning, as well as to society more broadly.

This role is an excellent opportunity for an academic leader with a passion and a clear vision for the School. If you enjoy making a difference in HE and thrive on supporting students and staff to excel, then we would be delighted to hear from you.  For full information please visit
