Simon Fraser University aims to be Canada’s leading engaged university through innovative education, cutting-edge research and community outreach. The Faculty of Education exemplifies this vision and is committed to three core principles in its research, teaching, and community services: Equity, Indigeneity, and a Culture of Inquiry. These principles are central to its daily activities and to its new 5-year Academic Plan. Since 1965, the Faculty has had a unique, non-departmentalized organizational structure that supports a wide variety of diverse and successful research programs. We are committed to excellence in university teaching and in supporting the professional worlds of teaching, educational administration, and policy-making. The Faculty community—comprising the professoriate, staff, and students—is innovative and diverse, with program areas in undergraduate, teacher education, and graduate studies. The latter enrols a quarter of all the graduate students at Simon Fraser University. The Faculty is a global education leader with a strong presence and distinctive community relationships at each of Simon Fraser University’s three campuses and long-established commitments to Indigenous, French, and international education.
Simon Fraser University is seeking to appoint an exceptional leader as the next Dean of Education. The Dean will lead and work closely with the Faculty to ensure that articulated core values and related priorities in the 5-year Academic Plan are providing direction and inspiration to the Faculty's activities.
