Registered Nurse, University Hospital, 8D Intermediate Care Unit
This is an open adult 20 bed Intermediate Care Unit which admits both Surgical and Medical patients.The population includes patients too ill for acute care units, but do not require the intensive care levels of the ICU. Hemodynamically stable postoperative patients requiring fluid resuscitation, patients requiring aggressive pulmonary toilet, short term ventilator patients, and patients requiring frequent vital signs or cardiac monitoring are the types of admissions this unit receives.The care model is concurrent collaborative care provided by the primary teams and the attending covering the Intermediate Care Unit for the week.The admitting service will provide the patient medical care.
