In coordination with external vendors, independently plans for and implements the generation of content for Penn Engineering, Bioengineering Department materials (e.g., newsletter, brochure, annual reports) and manages the workflow to ensure deadlines are met with external vendors. Serves as liaison between Department Chair, printers, publishers, and Dean’s office for production of materials, and proofreads and edits all materials to ensure consistency, clarity, and conformance to style. In consultation with the BE Chair prepares original correspondence, reports, white papers, summaries, etc. on behalf of senior departmental faculty. Coordinates departmental seminar and lecture series including developing itineraries, arranging travel and processing reimbursements. Arranges publicity and distribution of produced content (e.g. video, blog posts, interview materials). Acts as a lead in reviewing and reporting on national trends and compares department with others; creates, implements and complete surveys, and analyze results and summarizes feedback. Acting as part of the department team, assist with running of office focused on serving students and faculty.

Bachelor degree required, 2-3 years writing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Writing, research, proofreading and project management skills required. Familiarity with scientific concepts and working within academic departments helpful. Exceptional interpersonal skills required, with high degree of competency and comfort interacting with students, staff, faculty, and internal and external stakeholders (e.g. senior school staff, external speakers and advisors). Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as effectively as a member of a team. Outstanding detail orientation, ability to meet tight deadlines, and experience managing multiple priorities are essential.

Experience using CMS to post web content, knowledge of various social media channels for professional purposes, and the use of collaborative cloud-based tools to complete work (e.g. Google suite, project management apps) strongly preferred.
