POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research (MKI), to carry out independent and collaborative research programs involving theoretical, computational, and experimental work aimed at laying the foundation for the next generation of ground-based gravitational-wave detectors. May monitor and coordinate the work of students and temps. Will report to professors Matthew Evans or Salvatore Vitale.
REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in astronomy or physics, initiative, experience working in gravitational-wave detector design and sensitivity analysis, familiarity with opto-electrical systems typical of gravitational-wave detector related laboratory experiments, and working knowledge of current and potential future astrophysical sources of gravitational waves. This appointment will initially be for a period of one year and may be extended contingent upon performance and available funding.
