Job description

The Lancashire Law School is seeking to appoint a Clerical/Reading Assistant. This role will provide an opportunity to work on a 1-1 basis with a visually impaired member of Academic Staff who requires full clerical support. You will work in a busy environment covering a diverse range of activities that will enable the development of administrative/clerical skills particularly in the areas of communication, interpersonal interaction, organisation and team-working.

With excellent customer service, IT and record keeping skills you will have experience of working in a busy office/customer focused environment and ideally a basic knowledge of the Higher Education environment. Your main duties will include opening mail, managing email correspondence and diary management; To read aloud or audio record all forms of written work, i.e. coursework, exam scripts, subject texts, mail; Word process, from dictation student feedback sheets, email and mail correspondence when required.

The successful candidate will be flexible, tactful, be able to work unsupervised, prioritise and work consistently when under pressure to meet deadlines.

The successful candidate will have a range of GCSEs including English Language & Maths at Grade C or above; or appropriate equivalent experiential learning or a Word Processing/IT qualification or demonstrable equivalent experiential learning.
