We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow (Maths) to join our team in the Learning Development Centre (LDC) at Aston University. As part of the LDC team you will provide high quality learning and teaching to Aston students from across a range of subjects, predominantly working with students from the School of Engineering and Applied Science and a growing number of students from Aston Business School, the School of Life and Health Science, and Aston Medical School.

Teaching includes providing drop-in support, as well as one to one appointments and targeted group teaching. The post holder can expect to work with students at varying levels of study but will largely support foundation year and first year students with transitional maths. You will need to be adaptable and possess excellent communication skills with the ability to explain topics in an approachable way. Creativity will be needed to be able to try new approaches to teaching material.

Within the team you will be required to identify and contribute to the creation of learning resources for the LDC, including online resources for Aston’s virtual learning environment (BlackBoard). You will also collaborate with academic staff in the Schools of Study to provide appropriate learning support for students, and to contribute to developments related to the support of student attainment, retention and success.

The post is 0.6 FTE on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
