Faculty Positions in Architectural Design

at the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)

EPFL’s School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC) invites applications for two positions in Architectural Design in the Institute of Architecture and the City (IA).

We are looking for individuals who understand architecture as a cultural profession with a technical base, and who are thus capable of controlling and resolving questions related to multiple scales of environmental demands within a process of cultural creation and artistic expression that can imply, as well, collective agency.

We find it important that the candidate has an architectural practice, and that s/he sees engagement with academia as a necessary complement to that practice. Professional excellence is a criterion for selection, as well as evidence of a coherent and pro-active approach to education. The appointees will be required to teach in the bachelor program as well as at master level.

With its main campus located in Lausanne and its developing antennae in neighbouring cantons in Switzerland, EPFL is a growing and well-funded institution fostering excellence and diversity. It is well equipped with experimental and computational infrastructure, and offers a fertile environment for research collaboration between different disciplines.

The EPFL environment is multilingual and multicultural, with English serving as a common interface. EPFL offers internationally competitive start-up resources, salaries, and benefits as well as exceptional experimental and computational facilities.
