Are you an expert design practitioner who is able to imagine and realise novel proof-of-concept solutions? Here at Cranfield, we offer you the opportunity and resources to develop your career in a research led but strongly practitioner focused environment. Cranfield is an exclusively postgraduate university that is a global leader for education and transformational research in technology and management.
The Centre for Competitive Creative Design (C4D) at Cranfield is the internationally recognised and award-winning centre of excellence for creative design, strategy and leadership. This is an opportunity for a talented practitioner to join our creative and dynamic team, driving forward a breakthrough innovation culture and behaviour across the centre and rest of the university.
Your contribution will span research, teaching, leadership and management with your design expertise driving both academic and practical outcomes and your teaching inspiring our post-graduate students through innovative course design and delivery. The ability to turn conceptual designs into prototypes and competence in testing and improving resulting artefacts is critical to the role.
You will be expected to develop a strong and impactful contribution to design practice using human-centric and design-driven processes and conduct independent research. You should therefore have experience of developing and securing research and/or development income and driving a research, product design and teaching agenda in product design and engineering or related field. In order to achieve this, you will have an exceptional portfolio of work demonstrating your Product Design and Engineering capabilities.
Applicants should hold a PhD or EngD in Product Design, Industrial Design Engineering, or a related field. Extensive experience of translating ideas into working proof-of-concepts, alongside experience of management and research using both qualitative and quantitative methods is a must.
If you have ambition to build your own reputation through research, an impressive publication record and a great student teaching approach, then we would like to hear from you.
For an informal discussion, please contact Dr Leon Williams, Senior Lecturer in Creative Design & Innovation/Head of C4D on (T); +44 (0)1234 750111 Ext. 8531 or (E): firstname.lastname@example.org
