Position Description:

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Chicago invites applications for the position of Lecturer. This position is for a term of two years, with the possibility of renewal. The position will be part of the Service Employees International Union as a Lecturer 3. The relationship between the lecturers and the university is governed in part through a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Responsibilities include teaching six courses per year and ongoing professional development. Completion of a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics or a closely related field is required prior to the start of appointment. Applicants should be qualified to teach a range of undergraduate courses in mathematics including single and multivariable calculus, and linear algebra.

  • Teaching statement, including a history of courses taught 
  • Three or more letters of reference, at least two of which address teaching ability

We also welcome material on relevant experience with administration of undergraduate programs, curriculum development, or educational outreach.
