Position Focus:

This position is responsible for the Benefits and Absence Management department's reporting needs, including but not limited to, preparing metrics, evaluating and analyzing data, producing dashboards for senior leadership throughout the University. Performs complex pay calculations for employees on Short Term and Long Term Disability; reviews timecards and pay calculations performed by members of the team.  Supports the 403(b) Custom Portfolio, Investment Lineup and Qualified Default Investment Alternative program, as well as maintenance of the Faculty Phased Retirement Plan (FPRP). Serves as project manager in the oversight of events for the Benefits office (retirement fairs; benefits fairs) and guides administrative support in the execution of logistics.

Essential Duties

  1. Run monthly, quarterly and annual analysis on leaves of absence and workers’ compensation data. Assess trends of highest volumes departments; employee demographics; types of absences; trending related to time of year; etc.
  2. Recommend solutions - wellness programs; modifications to processes; department specific proposals - based upon findings
  3. Reconcile M&Ps on Short Term Disability (monthly) to ensure proper pay. Reconcile all employees on Long Term Disability (weekly and monthly) to ensure proper pay. Troubleshoot issues related to staff (or faculty LTD) with TPA.
  4. Perform data analysis to identify and track 403(b) participant cohorts for special outreach and/or monitoring
  5. Analyze 403(b) plan and participant data to identify and track potential problems
  6. Monitor system updates and asset mapping activities, sign-offs.
  7. Troubleshoot participant issues with TPA, employees and dependents.
  8. Coordinate benefits events, including: retirement fairs, benefits fairs, workshops, seminars. Guide administrative support in the execution of logistics; troubleshoots issues that arise.
  9. Troubleshoot complex vendor invoicing issues that arise.
  10. Assist with Faculty Phased Retirement Plan (FPRP); generates statistics regarding program and eligibility.
  11. Respond to surveys on behalf of Benefits and Absence teams.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Exceptional reporting and analytical skills, including ability to interpret complex data sets and summarize results for senior leadership.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Intermediate-to-advanced proficiency with MS Excel, and strong knowledge of other Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint). Expertise in extracting and summarizing large quantities of data from database systems, and linking multiple databases together.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Excellent project management and organizational abilities with strong attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Strong interpersonal skills, and well-developed written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to present data and information to a variety of audiences, including senior leadership. Strong public speaking skills.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Experience with benefits health and welfare programs and/or absence management (leaves of absence and workers' compensation). Experience with Workday and Kronos systems. Experience in a University setting desired.
