Director of Finance and Administration
DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION, Facilities-Infrastructure Business Operations, to oversee all financial aspects of facilities planning, operations, and construction for a complex campus portfolio. Will be responsible for budget development, accounting, financial reporting, financial controls, business systems and analytics, procurement, contracts, and vendor management; and work directly with the directors of Campus Planning, Campus Construction, Maintenance and Utilities, and Campus Services and their teams, to plan and optimize resources for the broader MIT community; and contribute to various planning committees and team initiatives for the department and the broader Institute.
The Infrastructure and Business Operations team provides great support and partnership to Facilities’ teams in their efforts to solve complex challenges and achieve outcomes that exceed customers’ expectation.
REQUIRED: a B.A./B.S. (master’s preferred) in finance, accounting, business, engineering or relevant field; at least ten years’ related experience with an emphasis on facilities, infrastructure, corporate services, property management, or related management area; proven record of influencing strategic change and initiatives; experience developing and managing budgets; people management and leadership skills; experience collaborating with multiple functional units; strong financial, analytical, and problem solving skills; experience preparing executive briefings; excellent interpersonal, project management, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills; ability to distill complex analyses into meaningful insights and conclusions, drive process improvements, and contribute solutions that enhance organizational function and enable productivity; and knowledge of enterprise financial systems, preferably SAP. Must be comfortable working in a matrixed organization, getting buy-in and consensus from leaders with diverse opinions, informing decision making with facts and sharing insights where trade-offs are required. In-depth knowledge of facilities planning, operations, and/or construction industry preferred.
