The Senior Research Investigator will plan, develop and perform molecular virology experiments to explore the nature of HIV latency and the effects of host immune responses and therapeutic strategies to eradicate or control the HIV reservoir. Experiments will include PCR, sequence analysis, cloning, infectivity, entry assays, and other cell culture based techniques. Assess virus phenotypes. The Senior Research investigator is expected to use his/her high level of scientific knowledge and analysis skills to develop and supervise students and technicians. Contribute to manuscripts and publications as well as presentations. Monitor and ensure regulatory compliance
PhD with at least 5 years of post-graduate experience required. Prior experience working with viruses and BSL II agents preferred. Experience training or managing others is preferred. The individual must be a strong communicator and able to work well in collaborative projects. Applicants with prior publications and presentations in biomedical science are preferred. Experience doing molecular cloning, PCR and sequencing is strongly preferred. Experience processing biospecimens, including blood and tissues is preferred. Experience working with viruses in cell culture strongly preferred.
