Senior Manager, Special Projects
SENIOR MANAGER OF SPECIAL PROJECTS, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), to serve as a chief of staff for the director, providing high-level strategic and administrative support. Will ensure the smooth functioning of the director’s schedule, travel, and communications; serve as a member of the cross-functional CSAIL Enterprise Services Leadership team, ensuring that the lab’s planning efforts and the director’s priorities and strategic and management initiatives are communicated, coordinated, and implemented; compose correspondence, prepare briefings, and review materials; oversee event planning; track progress of complex initiatives/projects; coordinate agendas, documents, scheduling, and logistics for key meetings; and represent the director as a proxy when needed, interacting with the external community as directed. Will report to the director and supervise a senior administrative assistant and events assistant.
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; five years’ related experience; discretion and exceptional judgment; professional work experience in people management, program/project management, communications, and event planning; attention to detail; initiative; and strong organizational skills. Proficiency with the following required: Google Drive, Docs, Sheets Gmail, etc.; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Wrike; and Salesforce. Must be able to work independently; complete visionary goals, prioritize workload, deliver high quality results, and meet deadlines; communicate to an executive-level audience, clearly and concisely, both in writing and in presentations; cultivate relationships, gain credibility with diverse constituencies, and collaborate effectively within a decentralized environment; develop and communicate big picture and long-term goals; formulate options and drive towards long-term solutions; foster an environment where innovative solutions and approaches are pursued; and generate win-win solutions. Experience in an educational environment, knowledge of MIT, and experience serving on leadership committees and/or executive boards preferred.
