Job Description

SONOGRAPHER - Float Pool - to cover all Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Clinics

GENERAL DESCRIPTION 

Operation of sonographic equipment, perform and communicate results of diagnostic examinations using sonography.

Duties 

  1. Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic ultrasound examinations
  2. Follow established departmental policy
  3. Assists with the daily operations of the ultrasound department
  4. Completes exam tracking/billing accurately on a daily basis
  5. Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, maintains adequate supplies
  6. Performs other work-related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images 
  • Uses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings 
  • Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the MD
  • Experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology ultrasound required. 
  • Access to reliable transportation this is afloat position.
  • May be in 2 different clinical sites in one workday.

Education 

Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required. Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is desirable.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification 

Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty (ies) as appropriate.

Must obtain ARDMS certifications in the following (Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular) as required by each entity within 18 months of employment. BLS certification

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work under time pressures in a busy clinic/office environment.
  • Must be present on site for 8 hour shifts during standard business hours.
  • Must participate in group activities requiring interpersonal skills & cooperation.
  • Must work as late person when scheduled or according to business needs
  • Must be able to react quickly and immediately respond to emergencies.
  • Must travel between locations on needed basis.
  • Must be able to handle multiple assignments, conflicting demands & priorities.
  • Must maintain attention to detail over extended period of time.
  • Must be continually aware of variations in changing situations.
  • Must be able to move throughout office environment throughout day.
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to push/pull 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to carry 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to reach for objects by extending arms.
