We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in mathematical, statistical or computational biology to join an EU consortium of clinicians, experimentalists, ecologists, computational biologists and mathematicians investigating the role of the respiratory microbiota in asthma. The project’s long-term goal is to investigate the use of phage therapy to control immune dysregulation associated with respiratory disease; see https://www.cureasthma.eu.

Your role will be to i) identify states of the respiratory microbiota associated with illness and health; ii) design models of the microbial ecosystem and fit them to time-series data; and iii) develop algorithms to optimise intervention strategies for control of the microbial community. Candidates with backgrounds in applied mathematics, physics, or mathematical, statistical or computational biology are encouraged to apply. Experience of ecological interaction networks, time series analysis and machine learning will be advantageous. The position is for 24 months starting in November 2018.
