The School of Humanities and Social Science is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in History (European).
History at LJMU is a well-established subject with a strong research profile and a score of 96% overall satisfaction in the 2017 National Student Survey. It currently comprises fifteen members of staff teaching a broad range of modules from the eighteenth century onwards and covering the United Kingdom; Europe, notably the political and social history of twentieth-century France, Germany 1933 – 1945, the social and cultural history of the Soviet Union; the Middle East; Africa; the USA; and Asia. Details of the current research interests in History at LJMU can be found at History Research Group.
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer able to teach on a number of modules related to Modern History and wider Foundation, undergraduate, and postgraduate level as required. We would particularly welcome applications from candidates whose research and teaching specialisms would allow us to develop our expertise into the history of Central Europe during the nineteenth century and/or early twentieth century, or modern Russian/Soviet Union history.
There would be an additional expectation around the delivery of wider Foundation, undergraduate, and postgraduate teaching as required. Applicants should have completed a PhD in the discipline, and have teaching experience at undergraduate level.
Informal enquires may be made to the Subject Leader for History, Dr David Clampin, email: D.J.Clampin@ljmu.ac.uk or telephone: 0151 231 5173
Please note all of our vacancies will be closed to applications at midnight on the advertised closing date, unless otherwise stated.
