COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANTCivil and Environmental Engineering-Concrete Sustainability Hub (CSHub), to assist with the development and distribution of communications materials geared to research sponsors and external audiences. Will assist faculty and staff with preparing articles and creating messages, content, and other communications collateral for CSHub; assist with implementing a communications plan representing its goals, activities, and accomplishments; and coordinate events.  Responsibilities include assisting with enhancing the public’s understanding of the group’s role in MIT's mission, serving as a point of contact for the press, identifying media opportunities, and collaborating on increasing CSHub’s presence on campus and beyond; assisting with monitoring/managing website and social media outlets; serving as the first point of contact regarding content/design/layout/structure/distribution/editing of promotional materials; working with CSHub leadership to coordinate the release of a monthly newsletter and with researchers to develop easy-to-understand summaries of recent research results; coordinating webinars; collaborating on the creation of short videos; coordinating with partners to ensure accurate, timely outreach strategies; and other duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma; at least three years’ experience in the communications field; knowledge of and experience with web content management and other electronic media; excellent writing, editing, interviewing, and research skills; demonstrated expertise using a range of styles to write feature stories, online content, social media, and broadcast messages; and experience with Microsoft Office, web design/maintenance, social media platforms, and the Adobe Creative Suite.  Must be able to translate complex information into common language; work effectively in a complex organizational structure and interact with people at different levels, including high-level executives; and work on teams.  A bachelor’s degree and experience in academia, including MIT, preferred.  

There will be occasional work outside the normal schedule to cover events and attend meetings.

This is a one-year term position.
