Senior Research Fellow in Health Economics
We are seeking a talented Level C or Level D Senior Research Fellow for a research only position to conduct original research into health technology assessment in Macquarie University’s Centre for the Health Economy (MUCHE). This includes undertaking competitive academic grant research, and research for government and non-government organisations. In this role you will generate original research ideas, produce high quality journal articles and lead research teams in health technology assessment for Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) and Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) evaluations.
You are an academic leader with a track record of success in developing research ideas and leading research teams. You can contribute to external engagement activities including academic conferences, Thought Leadership events, print and social media. You can build technical skills within our health technology assessment team while supervising Masters and PhD students. You can also contribute to developing and implementing the strategic direction of MUCHE.

- A PhD in health economics or closely related quantitative / health field from a leading University.
- Extensive experience in undertaking health technology assessment.
- Ability to work within collaborative teams towards research objectives.
- Ability to work independently with high level organisational skills.
- Has made an independent and original contribution to research with significant impact.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated time management skills and ability to work to deadlines.
Desirable selection criteria:
- Experience working with government and non-government organisations.
The position will report to the Director of MUCHE, although the successful candidate will be expected to work closely with other senior research fellows within MUCHE, and collaboratively with leading academics within Macquarie University and beyond.
Salary will be subject to qualifications and experience. It will range from Level C, ($124,392 - $143,051) to Level D ($149,391 - $164,321) plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading. There is also the potential for an additional Staff Loading for candidates with exceptional skills and experience.
