Glasgow School for Business and Society encompasses social sciences, law, media and journalism in addition to traditional business and management subject areas with sectoral specialisms in journalism, fashion, events and tourism. The School is also home to the Moffat Centre for Travel and Tourism Business Development which for more than 15 years has undertaken consultancy and contract research projects for both public and private sector clients, both in the UK and internationally.
An opportunity has arisen to join the School as a Professor in Marketing. The successful applicant will have responsibility for working with colleagues in the Marketing subject area to develop an inter-disciplinary research environment in marketing, fashion marketing, tourism and events management.
Applicants for this senior role will be qualified to doctoral level and have a well-established, sustainable publication record in marketing or a marketing related discipline area (e.g. consumer behaviour, tourism development). It is also expected that the successful candidate will have experience of successfully carrying out a leadership role in bidding for and managing research, consultancy or knowledge transfer projects. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate their commitment to contributing to further enhancing the student experience through academic leadership in relation to teaching, innovation in pedagogy and supervision of students up to doctoral level.
Applicants for this role will have excellent communication, planning, organisational and leadership skills. In particular, you should also be able to demonstrate a collaborative approach to supporting colleagues with their research, learning and teaching.
Appointees should also be prepared to contribute to research/teaching/business development opportunities in the UK or overseas.
