The Psychosocial Research Unit (PRU) is a small energetic research team, based in the School of Social Work, Care and Community that has developed distinctive psychosocial research methodologies and has a portfolio of research interests that include mental health and well-being, communities and citizenship, socially engaged arts and substance misuse. This two year post is an excellent development opportunity for an early career researcher. It arises because of an internal secondment. It will offer the post-holder an opportunity to broaden their research experience while acquiring expertise in specialist narrative, mobile, visual and other sensory methodologies, and within all aspects of the research process: bid development, data collection and analysis, writing for publication and research dissemination.
PRU is a key centre of research activity within the newly established trans-disciplinary Lancashire Institute for Citizenship, Society and Change, and the post holder will therefore, contribute to the development of a rich, varied and intellectually exciting research culture which includes colleagues from other disciplines across the University and a wide range of national and international networks.
With experience of undertaking qualitative research in an education or employment context and of presenting at conferences, the successful candidate will have a postgraduate qualification or the equivalent relevant experiential learning. Essential skills for success in this role include excellent writing, presentation and IT skills.
