The University of Warwick seeks to appoint an outstanding international academic leader to our senior management team in the newly created role of Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (China). This new role reflects Warwick’s deep commitment to productive engagement with China, as well as the University’s substantial historical ties with China and the Asia-Pacific region.

Warwick today is a world-leading university with the highest academic and research standards. The University enrols more than 25,000 students with one-third of them coming from overseas, representing around 150 countries. Our international focus has always been a key priority, demonstrated through a huge range of international collaborations and partnerships with the academic community, the business community and other sectors. Our staff and students have always thrived within an actively inclusive international community and we have attracted talented academics and researchers from every corner of the world. Crucially, as we look towards the next decade our focus will be on developing a number of very significant and deep research and education partnerships.

Reporting to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement), the Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (China) will be responsible for developing our China strategy in line with our international strategy, and will provide leadership to our various academic and non-academic interests in China and South East Asia. The successful candidate will be a senior academic leader known and respected within an academic field relevant to the University’s key research strengths. S/he will have delivered aspects of international and Chinese development initiatives, and led effective institutional engagement at a senior leadership level. S/he will have a firm grasp of internationalisation of research, technology transfer and knowledge exchange, international educational partnerships, and the ability to lead continuous organisational change and development. The successful candidate will continue to undertake high quality research alongside their role as Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (China). Fluency in English and Mandarin is essential.
