The Academic Coordinator will work at Penn Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics (MEAM) and will work closely with the Directors of the Engineering Entrepreneurship Program to facilitate the academic, research, outreach and support functions of the program. The work will involve frequent interactions with faculty, students (prospective and current), research and operational staff, alumni and outside supporters. The work will include: arranging meetings, travel and teleconferences; managing Directors’ time and communications; assisting in report preparation; recording meeting minutes and overseeing follow-up; maintaining academic, alumni and public websites; facilitating alumni relations programs including database creation, newsletters and social media; and administering the programs’ academic courses including assistance with lecture slides and handouts, activities of graders and teaching assistants, and student inquiries.

Manage the technical end of developing a department online newsletter, including uploading stories on the newsletter template and distributing the online newsletter via Mail Chimp service. Work with the publicity and outreach committee in the department. Maintain department webpages, manage the department’s social networking sites. Assist in the development of MEAM brochures, posters and other publications.

Serve as a back-up to our undergraduate coordinator. Serve as ABET Coordinator – work with the ABET committee, Set up committee meetings and take minutes, gather assignments and materials required from our core classes. Maintain the materials in the various binders in the MEAM office for each core class.

A High School Diploma or GED and 5 years to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years experience preferred. Experience working with faculty and students preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office/G Suite and networking/social media and webpage experience highly desired.
