Applications are invited for the post of StoryFutures Network Co-Ordinator to join the new Centre for Digital Creativity in the Department of Media Arts, Royal Holloway University of London. The Centre for Digital Creativity is an exciting new initiative to link cutting-edge research and teaching within the College with high profile creative industries partners. StoryFutures is an ambitious project within the Centre that will provide an R&D base for screen industries to meet the challenge of next-generation storytelling, producing compelling content for emerging creative technologies.

The Network Co-Ordinator will have a key role in linking the StoryFutures R&D programme of works with micros, SMEs, large enterprises and other industry partners. You will work across the ‘Gateway Cluster’, which spans the region immediately to London’s west: from Beaconsfield in the north, to Guildford in the South to Reading in the West. The role will bring the StoryFutures Network Co-Ordinator face-to-face with leading companies in the region, developing the network connectivity of the area – all within 45mins of Royal Holloway’s base in Egham. You will bring experience of working between creative industries and academia/research organisations or or working in trade membership organisations and event production.

The role will involve organizing networking and events for our industry partners and hot desk/incubation scheme to help SMEs within the cluster grow. The Network Co-Ordinator will also act as the key liaison point with our national and local membership partners, including leading national trade bodies for screen and immersive sectors. You will have the opportunity to organize international trade missions and build close relationships with industry bodies. You will help track and monitor SME and partner growth, linking them to support available within the R&D partnership. 

The role sits within the Media Arts Department as part of the new Centre for Digital Creativity (CDC), which brings together Media, Computer Science, Drama, Psychology, Management, Geography and Electronic Engineering. Royal Holloway is ranked in the top 10 or 20 departments in the UK for all these disciplines, providing a dynamic environment that connects creative industries with world leading researchers. As such, the role requires the post holder to bring a critical knowledge of current industry practice in creative industries, ideally including immersive. 

Ideally you will have worked in a research and/or business development role within creative industries, managing projects for a trade membership organization or, alternatively, worked in University roles with close research collaboration with creative industries. The successful candidate will have experience of business development and ideally will have skills in collaborative working and data management, such as Slack or Basecamp, and be adept at learning new digital tools for reporting and monitoring.You will have experience of social media and communications more generally. 

The StoryFutures Network Co-Ordinator role is to strengthen our relationships with creative industries in the region – growing a network of companies in the Gateway Cluster that are engaged with StoryFutures events, R&D and collaboration opportunities. 

This is a full time 4 year post, available from 01 October 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. It is a post with strong potential for contract extension. This post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London. The successful applicant will spend significant time liaising face to face with industry partners across the Gateway Cluster. An attractive relocation package is available.
