Job description

Coventry University is a forward-looking modern University. With a proud tradition as a provider of high quality education and a focus on multidisciplinary research, the University has established a robust academic presence regionally, nationally and across the world.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator to join our finance team based within Financial Operations. The role is quite specific and unique and sits within the Credit Control team. We are looking for a Finance Assistant to process and prepare large volume payments to students (refunds) via bank transfer, card and online portal. The refunds are payable to both domestic and international accounts, sometimes involving high levels of complexity due to international banking regulation and controls. The role itself is a very busy role and would suit someone who enjoys a challenge, can remain calm under pressure, be highly organised in their approach and takes satisfaction from delivering good customer service.

Attention to detail and accuracy are also crucial to minimise payment rejections which are costly to both the business and beneficiary. Recording notes of communication with beneficiaries on the finance system so that a clear audit trail can be seen is also an important part of the role. The post requires a flexible approach to work, meeting demands and deadlines at specific times throughout the year commensurate with a Finance role in an academic institution. The role will report and be assisted by a senior member of the Credit Control team who reports into the Group Credit Manager.
