A new fixed term full-time post of Senior Business Analyst in the Strategy and Engagement section of IT Services has been created. Working within the central IT Services of the University and reporting to the Head of Business Analysis you will be expected to lead and be accountable for the definition of the analysis for multiple emerging and legacy improvement initiatives as well as large transformational change processes working in a dynamic, agile and collaborative environment.
Main duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Where required, and working with relevant business sponsors, they will own and develop business cases for change, identifying clear expected outcomes that will improve or transform the University's performance.
- Works under general direction within a clear framework of accountability. Exercises substantial personal responsibility and autonomy. Plans own work to meet given objectives and processes.
- Performs an extensive range and variety of complex technical and/or professional work activities relating to business and system analysis. Undertakes work which requires the application of fundamental principles in a wide and often unpredictable range of contexts. Understands the relationship between own specialism and wider group requirements.
- Identifies specific measures and mechanisms by which benefits can be measured, and plansto activate these mechanisms at the required time. Monitors benefits against what was predicted in the business case and ensures that all participants are informed and involved throughout the change programme and fully prepared to exploit the new operational business environment once it is in place. Supports seniormanagement to ensure that all plans, work packages and deliverables are aligned to the expected benefits and leads activities required in the realisation ofthe benefits of each part of the change programme.
You will also be expected to have an understanding of business and systems analysis techniques, have planning and monitoring skills,and the ability to deliver presentations to colleagues with confidence and authority. Knowledge of Six Sigma, PRINCE2, and of software tools for project management would be an advantage as would a formal qualification in business or systems analysis.
