Staff Psychologist for the Counseling Center, part-time position (14-18 hours per week). This person will provide brief, informal, drop-in consultations outside of the Counseling Center in an office in the Brody Learning Commons on the Homewood campus. These services will be provided during brief shifts in the early evening during the week and 1-2 daytime shifts during the weekend.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides brief (10-15 minute) informal drop-in consultations, focused primarily on the management of immediate feelings and struggles, outside of the Counseling Center in an office in the Brody Learning Commons on the Homewood campus
- Makes referrals to the Counseling Center and other relevant offices and services around campus
- Maintains case management notes and completes all related paperwork as required by the Center in a timely and complete manner
- Attends clinical meetings and staff business meetings.
Licensed therapists will be administratively supervised by an assigned Associate Director designated by the Director. Unlicensed therapists will be supervised by a licensed therapist to qualify for eligibility for licensure in Maryland.
- Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology preferred; ABD acceptable.
Licensure, Certification, Registration:
- Maryland Licensure as psychologist is preferred.
- Experience in a University Counseling Center and experience working within a brief therapy model are desirable.
Special Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
- Experience working with an adolescent and young adult student population.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage single-contact brief interactions and interventions.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.
The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
