FINANCE ASSOCIATE, Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL)-Finance and Operations, to support J-PAL’s mission of efficiently translating research by its affiliates into actionable poverty alleviation policies around the world by carrying out financial operations for the office and supporting its systems and operational needs. This will include processing and tracking expenses; developing purchase orders for procurement activities; processing payments with MIT’s Accounts Payable office; tracking grant finances through MIT’s SAP system; developing draft budgets for various activities; and supporting the documentation, management, and enforcement of operational systems. Will work under the supervision of the senior manager, finance and operations. The position is ideal for someone who combines a passion for working with organizations around the world to inform development policy with solid administrative abilities to further J-PAL’s mission.

REQUIRED: at least three years’ administrative/finance experience (which may include internships) in an office environment; good written and verbal communication skills; ability to build good relationships and work within a team and to communicate clearly with a broad range of stakeholders; proven ability to anticipate, plan, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines; demonstrated ability to efficiently organize and manage a high volume of work; ability to self-manage a time-sensitive workflow while maintaining high quality output and absolute accuracy with details; and an interest in learning about organizational operations, creating and documenting process, and identifying new systems to improve efficiency. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. Experience with financial budgeting, tracking and projections preferred.
