The School of Computer Science has over 30 web/database-based administrative software systems that the School relies on for its day to day business operations. We are looking for an experienced IT professional to lead on the continuous development and support of these systems and processes.
High communication skills with the ability to manage and track projects through to completion are also key to this role. The post-holder will work with academic and professional support colleagues across the School to understand business processes, ascertain functional requirements and translate these into technical solutions. Candidates should therefore be able to evidence their skills of working as part of a customer focused team across a diverse range of stakeholders to discuss, advise, develop and document. Knowledge and experience of working within the Higher Education would be advantageous, but is not essential.
In addition to the technical development, the post-holder will be responsible for documenting the processes and coding for any new (plus some existing) systems. They will also be involved in running some administrative processes within these systems, where that support is required by the School.
We expect the ideal candidate to bring a pro-active, motivated outlook - with the ability to work both collaboratively as part of a team, and independently with minimal supervision.
The post is offered on a full-time basis up until 31 July 2019, to cover a period of secondment for the current post holder.
If you feel this role may be for you, please ensure that in your application you clearly demonstrate the following:
- Extensive experience of developing and maintaining relational database services
- Experience of managing and tracking projects through to completion
- Ability to work in a flexible, customer-centric manner
- Experience of working in a busy, complex and demanding environment
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
- Experience of managing and liaising with a range of stakeholders
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
