The University of Manchester invites applications for the post of Research Fellow in Health Economics. This is an exciting post-doctoral position to work on the econometric evaluation of a national policy aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles to prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. This is an excellent opportunity to undertake research in the emerging methodological area examining the costs and benefits of large-scale health care programmes. The post is available until 31st March 2021, in the first instance.
This position is based in the Division of Population Health, Health Services Research and Primary Care. You will be line-managed by Dr Rachel Meacock, Senior Lecturer in Health Economics. Additional supervision will be provided by Prof Matt Sutton, Professor of Health Economics and the project Principal Investigator. You will also collaborate with a large multi-disciplinary team.
Candidates will need an undergraduate degree in economics and a PhD in economics or health economics(or equivalent). They will also need to demonstrate detailed understanding of micro-econometric techniques. Experience of applying advanced techniques for non-experimental programme evaluation, managing and analysing complex administrative data, and contributing to manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals is also required. Understanding of methods for cost-effectiveness analysis, broad knowledge of modern methods for applied health research, and experience of using data from Hospital Episode Statistics and/or the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) are all desirable.
