The Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies (AIPT) seeking a Research Associate to support the delivery of a project entitled Enabling Technologies and Innovation Competencies Challenge (ETICC) funded bythe European Structural Investment Fund (ESIF) and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

You will join an established group working on solving industrial challenges faced by SMEs. The group works on a one-to-one basis with companies providing advice on site and through the analyses of company data.

You will be responsible for assisting businesses and collaborating with SMEs and will also help to facilitate workshops and other project events with SMEs. Key tasks will include assisting in the engagement of SMEs and in selecting SMEs from ETICC calls; assisting the Business Engagement Manager to market the project by attending events; leading and undertaking collaborative projects with SMEs; contributing to project delivery as required by the ETICC Project Manager.

You will have a degree in a relevant subject; have experience of applying standard research techniques to gather and analyse data; experience of writing reports and delivering presentations; experience of publishing in internationally leading journals; have experience in optical fibre sensors and photonic technologies; and experience in the pulsed (Q-switched mode-locked) fibre lasers design and characterization.
